Cincinnati’s Annual Tree Lighting
In 2011, Cincinnati officially welcomed the holiday season with “Macy’s Light Up the Square,” which featured the annual lighting of the holiday tree on Fountain Square.
Festivities began at 6:30pm with live music from Timeflies and ice skating. At 7:00p.m. hosts Brian Douglas of Q102 and Sheree Paolello of Channel 5 emceed live from the P&G Music Stage. Santa makes a special appearance, the Mayor himself turned on the tree, and a beautiful fireworks show lite up the night! In 2011 the 65′ tree sparkled with 25,000 white lights new C-9 colored LED lights provided by Philips Lighting. The tree was the tallest holiday trees ever on the Square, measuring 70 feet base to tip of the Macy’s red star.
